Will a DVD purchased from Germany work in American DVD players or do they have a different format?

No, it most likely won't (unless labelled region free which is not that common). Most DVDs have a region code that restricts it to being watched only on DVD players of this particular region. The USA, Canada etc. are region 1, whereas Europe [including Germany] and most parts of Asia are region 2. So, if there's the possibility of ordering a region free copy of this DVD, it'll all be just fine otherwise it, I'm afraid, won't work. Hope it helped.

No, but you can watch it on your Computer.Thats how I do it.

Unless it is a universal DVD, it will more than likely not work. PAL 2 does not work in US.

normally no its regional coded unless its not formatted...it does work though if it is either porn or if it was purchased on an american army post.
