If you use other American based equipment, it should. As far as I am aware, European TV signal is in PAL format while US signal is NTSC. So if you attempt to hook it up to any cable system in Europe, it will not work.

What do you call a work study in Germany

What do you call a work study in Germany?
I was wondering about technical or vocational schools in Germany. What are they called and is there a program where you can learn while working such as something in the IT field.

a regular training is called "Ausbildung" and consists of usually 3 years hands-on training while being employed as an apprentice in a company. Half of that time is approx. to be spent in a school focussing on relevant subjects. The name of that school is "Berufsschule". If you look for more sophisticated education there is a dual system for Studying while working for a company in parallel called: "Duale Ausbildung" or "Ausbildung im dualen System". It is mostly offered in combination with Colleges (Fachhochschule) in southern Germany (Baden-Württemberg has a prime lead role here). Hope that helps

How did elections actually work in East Germany

How did elections actually work in East Germany?
I know that there were a range of parties (from the SED to the Christian Democrats) that were in the National Front of Germany. So were the elections fixed or was there some change in the number of seats for each party?

It was a puppet state. They were told by the Politburo who to slate and how to vote. The USSR also supposedly had free elections. You were free to vote for the name on the ballot, you just weren't free to put your name on the ballot or write in anyone else's name.

Everyone voted who they thought would be the most glorious and in the end the most glorious won. FDJ fur alles!

life isn't really expensive in Germany (doesn't have to be) I would advise you to learn some German, its easier to get a job when you do.

Well, if classes are in German, you're sunk. But so far as surviving goes, you'll be fine. Most Germans speak English to some extent, and they get tourists by the thousands each year, so they'll be ready for you. Good luck!
